What Are Functional Skills?
NCFE Functional Skills qualifications are designed to provide learners with the chance to gain useful, transferable skills in English, mathematics and ICT. They will help the learners function confidently, effectively and independently in their work and life in general.
What Are Functional Skills Equivalent To?
All Functional Skills are equivalent to GCSE grades, however, depending on the level Functional Skill you acquired, depends on the grade that it is equivalent to.
Level 1 Function Skills is equivalent to an E – D or 1-4 GCSE grade, while a Level 2 Functional Skills is equivalent to a level C – A* or 5-9** Grade.
Functional Skills English
English Functional Skills qualifications are designed to equip learners with skills such as comparing the ideas and presentation of texts, writing for a specified audience and purpose, and communicating and adapting language. They’re assessed in three units (Speaking, Listening and Communication; Reading; and Writing
Functional Skills Maths
Maths Functional Skills qualifications are designed to develop the learner’s ability to represent situations using mathematics, analyse calculations, solve problems and interpret mathematics to explain situations.
Functional Skills ICT
ICT Functional Skills qualifications are designed to equip learners with the confidence and ability to use ICT systems and tools, and find, select, develop, present, and communicate information.
