About The Course

The Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Level 2 apprenticeship provides learners with the practical skills and knowledge needed to work effectively in warehouse, logistics and supply chain environments. Covering key areas such as receiving and storing goods, picking and packing orders, stock control, health and safety, equipment use, teamwork and customer service, this programme prepares individuals for roles within warehousing, distribution, logistics and fulfilment operations.

Delivered over 12 months, the apprenticeship combines workplace training with expert support, helping learners develop the confidence, accuracy and professional behaviours needed to succeed in a fast-paced warehouse or supply chain role. The programme supports apprentices to build the skills required to contribute to efficient operations, maintain safe working practices and support the smooth movement of goods through the supply chain.

Tools and Equipment: Understanding the tools, equipment, machinery and delivery systems used to handle products, such as pallet trucks, forklift trucks, reach trucks and lifting equipment.

Health and Safety Regulations: Awareness of health and safety regulations relevant to the role, the organisation and the responsibilities of a warehouse operative.

Product Handling and Storage: Understanding product handling and storage requirements, including contractual and organisational expectations.

Loading Procedures: Understanding how products should be loaded safely, including transport weight limits and loading distribution.

Warehouse Operations: Understanding organisational procedures for receiving, storing, picking, dispatching, decanting, packing and returning products.

Stock Control: Understanding the principles of quality control, stock rotation, stock taking, stock discrepancies and stock/resource management.

Reporting and Escalation: Knowing when and how to report or escalate problems within the limits of your own job role and responsibilities.

Environment and Sustainability: Understanding the environmental impact of warehousing and logistics, including efficient use of resources, recycling, reuse and safe disposal of waste.

IT and Digital Systems: Understanding warehouse management systems, digital tools, GDPR and cyber security.

Communication: Understanding written and verbal communication techniques, including plain English, industry terminology, giving and receiving information, adapting communication style and overcoming communication barriers.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion: Understanding the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplace and how these impact your role.

Operational Information: Knowing where to find and use the electronic or paper-based information needed to complete warehouse tasks correctly.

Entry Requirements

This apprenticeship is suitable for:

Individuals working in or aspiring to a warehouse, logistics, distribution or supply chain role
Those employed in a relevant job role where they can develop and apply practical warehouse operative skills in the workplace
Candidates with GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above are desirable, but Functional Skills support is available where needed
Employees who want to develop skills in stock handling, goods in and dispatch, picking and packing, safe working practices, teamwork and warehouse operations

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for apprenticeship funding, learners must:

✅ Be aged 16 or over
✅ Be employed in a relevant role for at least 30 hours per week
✅ Have the right to work in England and have been resident in the UK/EEA for at least 3 years (some exceptions apply)
✅ Not already hold a similar qualification at the same or higher level
