On Wednesday 8th July, Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced the new incentive for employers to hire apprentices over the next 6 months.
From August 2020 to January 2021, any firm that hires a new young apprentice aged 16 to 24 will receive £2,000. This is in addition to the existing £1,000 payment the Government already provides for new 16-18-year-old apprentices and those aged under 25 with an Education, Health and Care Plan. While those that hire new apprentices ages 25 and over will be paid £1,500.
This is a brilliant way to get young people into work and earning whilst they are learning!
